5th OMA Emirates Medal Championship

This past weekend saw the fifth OMA Emirates Medal Championship, in association with Genesis, of the year take place at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. The monthly medals at Dubai Creek are always a great success, and with such a superb headline sponsor in OMA EMIRATES, there was a full field of over 80 competitors battling to claim top honours and of course be rewarded with some all important order of merit points. The new prize sponsor Jean-Gorges Dubai also ensured all the players were fighting for some outstanding prizes.

Will Jones stormed to victory in this month’s monthly medal after an outstanding net 64! This was Will’s first OMA Emirates Medal Championship victory and after being presented with his trophy commented; “What a surprise and great feeling it is to have won today! A big thanks to everyone here at Dubai Creek for putting a superb event once again!”

Mohammed Al Musharrekh also fired an astonishing net 64, however was just beaten by Will on his back 9 performance. Mohammed’s 64 was however enough to claim a 7 shot victory in Division B ahead of Qais Qureshi. Division A was also fiercely contested where the top two players could once again only be separated on count back. The ever consistent Ishwar Jodha managed 5 gross pars and a birdie on his back 9 to squeeze ahead of Arshad Waheed in the A division, both men claiming the 1st and runner up spots respectfully. The best gross prize of the day was awarded to scratch team member Edoardo Galeppini after his fine round of 73, whilst it was So Jung who, after a fine finishing stretch of holes, managed to claim the Ladies Division after count back on the back 9.

Dubai Creek’s Club Captains have introduced a prize for endeavor into the monthly prizes here at Dubai Creek for the last placed competitor. This month’s winner was Anthony Cashin, who has kindly been given a complimentary lesson from one of Dubai Creek’s superb PGA Professionals, Jon Garabieta. Ishwar Jodha, Kevin Moroney, Beatrice Galeppini, Bryan Scatterty, Bernard Sheeran and Mark Jolliffe were the 2’s club winners on the day, whilst the Nearest the Pin on the 16th hole sponsored by Emirates was won by Kevin Moroney.

After conducting the prize presentation, Dubai Creek’s Director of Golf, Stephen Hubner commented; “Thank you all once again for your support and participation this month, I hope that you enjoyed your games today!
